I got to run this morning on Christmas Eve for a long-ish run with my friend Catherine and her daughter Ellie on some of my favorite trails here in Nashville (pictured below).
They ran with me for a couple miles in the park, but I then went on further and ran a little over 12 1/2 miles which I thought was fun since that is how old you are....
I loved getting to carry you with me along the way on my rainy day run today.
The Advent word for this Christmas Eve is appropriately the word "birth."
The Jesus Storybook Bible says this about the birth of Jesus:
"They caught their breath. Then quietly, they tiptoed inside. They knelt on the dirt floor. They had heard about this Promised Child and now he was here. Heaven's Son. The Maker of the Stars. A baby sleeping in his mother's arms. This baby would be like that bright start shining in the sky that night. A light to light up the whole world. Chasing away the darkness. Helping people to see. And the darker the night got, the brighter the star would shine."
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel.
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel.
May the light of the world shine brighter this year for you
and may He bless you with a wonder and awe
as you celebrate this Story again this year.
