Bummer

This morning, I was supposed to go running with your mom, but her running shoes were not around so she had to bail.  As I ran down to Green Lake in the dark this morning (sadly without my favorite running buddy), I was thinking this prayer that is one of my favorites:

"We give you thanks, Almighty God,
for all your gifts and graces to us this day:
for the splendor of the whole creation and the beauty of this world;
for the wonder of life and the mystery of love;
for the blessings of family and friends,
and the loving care that surrounds us on every side.
We are grateful for this day's work,
for the things that demanded our best, and things that delighted us;
and for the disappointments and failures that lead us to depend on You truly..."

I love that last line especially-
" We are grateful for the disappointments and failures that lead us to depend on You truly."

This morning was a small disappointment. Not a big deal-
 (I felt worse for your mom thinking of her standing there in her running clothes with no shoes in sight thinking she could maybe just do some jumping jacks inside instead.)

I simply prayed for you on my run that when disappointments and failures come your way today (and in life in general) that you would lean into God and that they would allow you to depend on Him more.
